A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash on Sand Island Access Road earlier this morning.
According to Honolulu police, an unidentified motorist turned left from a driveway and onto northbound Sand Island Access Road, striking a 21-year-old male motorist who was traveling southbound on Sand Island Access Road. The male motorist lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole.
The unidentified motorist resumed heading northbound on the road without stopping to render aid.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services transported the man to an area hospital in critical condition.
Police said speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision at this time. It was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
