We’ve got ideas to fuel some springtime fun, Birmingham! (Jacob Blankenship / Bham Now)

Everywhere you look in Birmingham this time of year, there’s a fun festival, concert or event. Especially when the sun is shining and trees are blooming, I just want to spend all day exploring parts of Birmingham. It’s a great way to keep things interesting and meet new people.

But to keep up with all of these fun happenings, you gotta have some flavorful “fuel.”

As my adventures were taking me through places like Homewood, Trussville and Chelsea, I realized I kept passing 7 Brew coffee stands. A quick spin through the drive-thru for a bold drink and a friendly hello, and I was on my way to Red Mountain Park. So, I got to thinking about other fun things to do around Birmingham and what to get at 7 Brew to top off the activity.

Kayak on Lake Purdy with a Pink Paradise Lemonade

The Birmingham-area’s newest 7 Brew location is on Highway 280, right next to the recently-opened Raising Cane’s, and just 20 minutes from Lake Purdy.

7 Brew’s Pink Paradise Lemonade mixes cherry, watermelon and raspberry into a bright and flavorful on-the-water treat. Time your trip to catch sunset over the water (imagine the photo opp when the view matches the colors of your drink!). Since they’re open until 10PM on weekdays and 11PM on weekends, timing won’t be a problem.

Catch a show in Trussville after a Midnight Rain 7 Energy

Get an energy drink before your spring or summer show in Trussville. (Jacob Blankenship / Bham Now)

For our Trussville locals, the Trussville Entertainment District always has something fun going on—whether it’s a concert, cornhole or local shops and eats.

Plus, the nearest 7 Brew is about 15 minutes away, which means you can get your tickets to a show, pre-game with a Midnight 7 Energy on your way and dance the night away with local music!

Take a Goat Yoga class + a Cherry Blossom Green Tea to go

Outdoor yoga classes, led by certified instructors, on a farm, surrounded by baby goats. Sounds crazy, but it’s way too fun! And the cherry on top (pun intended) could be a Cherry Blossom Green Tea. Luckily, there’s a 7 Brew in Helena.

Shop local in Crestwood with The Blondie (add cold foam!)

Sojourns Fair Trade is one of many local shops in Crestwood. (Jacob Blankenship / Bham Now)

The Irondale-to-Crestwood corridor is one of my favorite places to shop local, whether I’m thrifting or sifting through antique booths, there’s always something unique I can find.

Some of my favorite spots:

  • Crestwood Pickers
  • Lovelady Thrift Store
  • Urban Suburban Antiques
  • Thank You Books
  • Sojourns Fair Trade
  • Irondale Pickers

Try out my route and see what fun things you can find! But before you tackle these stops, you’re going to need a pep in your step. My pick: The Blondie with cold foam and caramel drizzle.

Tip: There’s a 7 Brew on Montclair Road (halfway between Crestwood Pickers and Lovelady Thrift Store). Happy shopping!

Hike Red Mountain + grab a Strawberry Mango Smoothie

My favorite Red Mountain Park route is the Eureka Mines Trail, and it’s one of many that take you past historic mines, offers beautiful views and features fun bridges.

After your hike, reward yourself with a cold, sweet treat! My pick: The Strawberry Mango smoothie from 7 Brew. There’s a new location on Lakeshore, just 10 minutes from Red Mountain Park.

The cool thing about 7 Brew: They have a drink for any activity you can think of, and you can get it any way you want: Iced, frozen, with whipped cream and more. It’s a perfect addition to an already-perfect Birmingham day. Find your nearest location.

Your turn, Birmingham. Tag us @bhamnow and let us know your 7 Brew order and what you’re doing this spring. Keep up with Southern Brew for new flavors, special deals and a whole lot of local fun.
