A Westbrook man has been charged with manslaughter and several other offenses related to his involvement in a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist Wednesday.
Chad Jordan was arrested and charged with operating under the influence following Wednesday night’s fatal crash, Windham police said.
Jordan has now been charged with manslaughter, aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, OUI drugs causing the death of another person, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon with prior offenses and aggravated criminal mischief, Windham police said in a news release Friday.
Jordan was driving a pickup truck south on Route 302 in Windham when it struck a minivan traveling northbound at about 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.
Jordan’s vehicle continued to travel south in the northbound lane before striking an oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle immediately became engulfed in flames, police said, and the operator was declared dead at the scene.
Officials have not identified the person who died.
Jordan was arrested and charged with operating under the influence following the crash. Windham police said Friday that he is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on the additional charges and that the crash is still under investigation.
