The Hawaii women’s volleyball team celebrated an early point against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the first day of the Lucky Aces Inviational at Oreleans Arena in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS >> It didn’t take Hawaii long to begin the Lucky Aces Invitational with a win.
Panna Ratkai put down a match-high 16 kills and the Rainbow Wahine were efficient and effective in a 25-17, 25-13, 25-13 sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi today at Orleans Arena.
The Rainbow Wahine (7-2) extended their winning streak to six matches heading into tomorrow’s match against Iowa State, which was swept earlier by UCLA.
Maeli Cormier provided needed production from the right side with seven kills, including a perfect 5-for-5 on attacks in the opening set.
Rachel Purser, a freshman middle who graduated from nearby Coronado High School in Henderson, Nev., added five kills and four blocks.
Hawaii hit a season-high .471 for the match. Ratkai hit .556.

Hawaii played its sixth consecutive match without hitter Cha’lei Reid, who continues to recover from a shoulder injury.
UH finished with nine blocks and five aces.
