Portland police are investigating a stabbing that occurred near Longfellow Square on Saturday night.

Several police cars were parked along Congress Street around 6 p.m. and the area was marked with yellow caution tape. City spokesperson Jessica Grondin confirmed police are investigating a stabbing. No other details were immediately available.

This is the second recent stabbing near Longfellow Square. In November, Portland police said they arrested a man after he stabbed another man in the face in an “unprovoked” attack.

Police identified the suspect at the time as a 48-year-old man, who was charged with aggravated assault.

This is a developing story.
