Payton Pritchard is reportedly sticking around with the Celtics.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Boston has signed Pritchard to a two-year contract extension worth $44.2 million.

The new deal starts at the beginning of the 2027-28 season and includes a mutual option for the 2029-30 season.

Pritchard, 28, was due a hefty pay raise this fall — especially after Boston initially signed him to a four-year, $30 million contract extension in October 2023, which has become one of the league’s best bargains.

Since inking that four-year extension, Pritchard has emerged as a key cog on Boston’s roster, helping the Celtics win a championship in 2024 before taking home the Sixth Man of the Year Award the following season.

Pritchard made strides again during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging career highs in points (17), assists (5.2), and rebounds (3.9).

This new deal gives Pritchard a sizable raise and added security. Both the 6-foot-1 guard and the Celtics are able to opt in for the final year of the contract in 2029-30, which could open the door for extension talks that summer.

While Pritchard has offered plenty of value as a dynamic scorer off the bench, his shooting touch and ability to capitalize in isolation make him a player who would likely thrive with more touches and minutes.

Whatever role Pritchard is handed this year, he’ll be an integral part of Joe Mazzulla’s operation.

As Charania and ESPN Research noted, Pritchard is one of four players to make at least 200 3-pointers in multiple seasons in Celtics history, joining Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Antoine Walker.

Pritchard has also been a durable player for Boston, with his 241 games played from 2023-26 tied for the third-most in the league over the last three years.
