Kamerin McDowell-Moore rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns as Elon handed the University of Maine its fourth straight loss, 43-17, in a Coastal Athletic Association football game Saturday in Elon, North Carolina.
The Black Bears (1-4, 1-1 CAA) have not won since their season opener on Aug. 27 and fall to 1-4 overall, 1-1 in conference play. Elon improves to 4-1, 2-1.
Maine fell behind 5-0 in the first quarter on a 39-yard field goal by Luke Barnes and a safety when CJ Hector blocked a punt out of the end zone. Elon (4-1, 2-1) blocked two punts in the first quarter.
The Black Bears pulled within two when Samuel Tremblay kicked a 25-yard field goal early in the second quarter, but then gave up two touchdowns runs of over 50 yards to fall behind 19-3 at the half.
Rashawn Marshall (105 yards on 14 carries) scored on a 30-yard run in the third quarter for Maine, but Elon responded with 24 straight points.
Maine quarterback Eddie Buehler was 14 of 35 for 88 yards before he was replaced by Caden Drezek, who completed 5 of 12 passes for 60 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown to Kevin Jackson in the fourth quarter.
