Scott Thompson is back at his home in Las Vegas after being released from the hospital a week after attempting to take his life. The comic known as Carrot Top is due back on stage Oct. 19.
Thompson’s PR rep Jami Schlicher confirmed Saturday morning the 61-year-old Thompson is recovering well, focused on his return to comedy and the family is asking for privacy. The next Carrot Top show at Luxor’s Atrium Showroom is Oct. 19.
Thompson’s condition has reportedly, steadily improved since he was hospitalized the afternoon of Sept. 18. The incident unfolded as details of legal action involving Thompson out of Florida were made public.
Thompson was reportedly found near the pool in his backyard by a longtime friend, after the comic called a member of his production team saying he was deeply distressed.
Efforts to reach Thompson’s management since his hospitalization have been unsuccessful.
Thompson’s formal communication has primarily run through his publicist. MGM Resorts International has also issued a statement: “Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering. We are thinking of him and wish him strength as he receives the care and support he needs.”
