Hawaii outside hitter Panna Ratkai spiked the ball over Utah Tech outside hitter Cale Torgerson during a match Thursday at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawaii senior Panna Ratkai was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week today.

The 5-foot-10 outside hitter earned most valuable player honors in the Outrigger Invitational after leading the Rainbow Wahine (4-2) to three consecutive wins.

Ratkai hit .284 and totaled 52 kills and five aces in the tournament. She averaged a team-best 4.00 kills per set.

Ratkai opened the tournament with 12 kills in a sweep of Utah Tech on Thursday. With UH trailing 22-20 in the third set, Ratkai rattled off three kills and then had a solo block on match point to win it.

In Friday’s five-set win over Loyola Marymount, Ratkai had a season-high 21 kills to help hand the Lions their only loss of the season.

She opened the fifth set scoring six of Hawaii’s first eight points including back-to-back aces.

Ratkai finished the tournament with 19 kills and two aces in a five-set win over UC San Diego on Sunday. She had three of her kills in the fifth set.

Hawaii will close out an eight-game homestand to start the year this week with two matches against Central Arkansas on Thursday and Friday.
