Find out all about ‘Tommy the Terrible Toupee’ at Will’s Pub book signing this weekend

For the kids at heart (with bleeding ulcers from reading the news) amongst us, here’s a book-signing event that might provide you with a moment of relief.

Local scenesters Carol Benanti and Dave Mitchell are posting up at Will’s to sign copies of their new children’s book, Tommy the Terrible Toupee. It’s the heartwarming tale of a kindhearted toupee stuck on the head of a (very topical and) very mean man. After enduring all he can, Tommy jumps off and goes in search of a better head to perch on.

Mitchell, who has illustrated for Orlando Weekly now and again, pours on the charm, evoking both Pogo and vintage Dennis the Menace. Trashy trio 24 Hour Karate People play too, just to keep things unpredictable.

2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, Will’s Pub, 1042 N. Mills Ave., willspub.org, free.
