DJ BMF and the Phat-N-Jazzy Allstars get funky like it’s the 1990s all over again at Judson’s

In the 1990s when beats ruled the local scene, acid jazz night Phat-N-Jazzy blazed a trail into the books as one of the brightest, most legit chapters in Orlando music history. Under star resident DJ BMF, still one of Orlando’s most iconic turntablists, PNJ became a pacesetting institution that made our city simultaneously funkier and smarter. Earlier this year, the return of DJ BMF & the Phat-N-Jazzy Allstars was a sell-out smash at Judson’s Live.

Now, they’re back by dope demand, this time for a loaded two-night, four-show stand of their storied live extravaganza that’ll feature DJ BMF flanked by Gerry Williams (vocals, keys), Christian Ryan (saxophone, flute), Clay Watson (trombone) and Ceelos Congas (percussion). It’ll be a lush portal to a golden age in both rap and Orlando club lore when hip-hop, jazz, funk and soul flowed together like hot butter.

7 & 9:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, July 31-Aug. 1, Judson’s Live, drphillipscenter.org, $23.31-$41.
