John Holobetz, Reidis Sena and Cooper Adams combined for 18 strikeouts, and the Portland Sea Dogs earned a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in an Eastern League game Thursday night in Binghamton, New York.
Holobetz (5-3) struck out 10 and allowed three hits over five innings. Sena pitched 2 2/3 innings and recorded six strikeouts, and Adams got the last four outs for his fifth save, though he gave up a two-run homer to Corey Collins with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.
The Sea Dogs took the lead in the third inning when Franklin Arias blasted his 19th home run of season. In the fifth, Caden Rose led off with a double, took third on a passed ball and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Will Turner after a walk to Arias.
Portland made it 3-0 in the top of the ninth when Mason White hit a leadoff triple and came home on a sacrifice fly by Raudelis Martinez.
