Fontainebleau has a new duo and a new use for a chic venue on its mind.
The husband-and-wife mentalist tandem, James Harrington and Mariani Liani, open “Mind2Mind” on June 4 at Azul Lounge. The close-up show runs Thursdays through Sundays through Sept. 27, with two shows Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets start at $85.23, go to tickets.mind2mind.live/event for intel.
The show is from the same producers as ”The Magician’s Study,” the secret parlor show that has been running for a decade on the Strip.
The duo has appeared on such magical platforms as “America’s Got Talent,” “Britain’s Got Talent” and “Masters of Illusion.” These shows are almost a prerequisite for a resume for a magic or mentalist stage show in Las Vegas.
The act will return for the upcoming season of “AGT,” which premieres June 2.
Among the awards the couple is touting is the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM) Gold Medal, considered among the most prominent honors in the industry.
The performance features up-close views of Harrington and Liani’s “second sight” demonstrations, a two-person act that simulates telepathy. A partner is blindfolded and remains on stage, while the other performer collects objects from the audience. The medium (ideally) then identifies the items, numbers, colors, or the name the audience member is thinking of. This is why you check for your watch/phone/wallet after shaking hands with a mentalist.
The team also specializes in face-to-face mind-reading, thought reveals (which is what it sounds like) and predictions.
The 75-minute performance is intimate, clearly, given the club’s approximately 80-seat capacity. Guests can also opt for a three-course dinner at Washington Potato, the hotel’s dim-sum concept. The option is available only on show nights.
