Man arrested after alleged shooting in Nanakuli

Honolulu police arrested a 76-year-old man Sunday after he allegedly fired a gun at another man during a confrontation at a Nanakuli residence.

Officers responded around 10:50 a.m. to Nanakuli Avenue following reports of a shooting. Investigators said a 44-year-old man had gone to the home to pick up his daughter when the suspect discharged a firearm at him, missing.

The victim confronted the suspect before a witness intervened and disarmed the older man.

The 76-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree reckless endangering.

The 44-year-old man suffered minor abrasions and was treated at the scene. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
