An 86-year-old man died over the weekend after being pulled from the waters in Waikiki.
On Saturday, at about 4:30 p.m., the man was found unresponsive in the lagoon off of Kuhio Beach Park, according to the Honolulu Ocean Safety Department.
Lifeguards saw bystanders pulling him from the water near the outer wall of the lagoon, and quickly paddled out to bring him back to shore, where they began CPR.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over with advanced life support.
EMS took the man to an emergency room in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police have classified the case as an unattended death. No foul play is suspected.
