BTS announces a sequel to Las Vegas takeover

BTS is more than a K-pop band. It is a cultural phenomenon, and is once more celebrating that status with “The City Las Vegas” from May 20-31.

BTS has announced the citywide festival to celebrate “Arirang,” its comeback album. The kings of K-pop play Allegiant Stadium May 23-24, and 27-28. “The City” was a complementary festival when the band played Allegiant in 2022. The band plans to enlarge the experience this May.

“Landmark locations across Las Vegas will be activated, with the Strip and digital marquees illuminated in the album’s signature red theme and welcome messages,” a release states, adding event “will also include themed hotel experiences, food and beverage offerings, and exclusive after-party events.”

A similarly scaled “The City Busan” is planned for June in South Korea.

In 2022, the festival transformed many Strip locations in the band’s trademark royal purple. In this vast celebration, “Party in the City” after-parties, a 100-square-foot “Permission to Dance” fan experience, and photo exhibits were set up at Area15.

Also, a BTS-themed production was developed at the Bellagio Fountains. Partner resorts offered themed rooms. Restaurants developed special BTS-flavored tasting menus, including the band’s favorite Korean dishes.

“The City” announcement arrives just after the launch of BTS’s short documentary series, “Keep Swimming,” drawn from “Swim,” the first single from “Arirang.”

As the band explains, “In a world where flashy achievements often dominate attention, the campaign shifts focus to the importance of everyday consistency and the unseen effort behind outcomes.”

The series kicked off on April 7, showcasing a wide range of subjects sharing their “Keep Swimming” moments.
