NBA legend making Sphere debut in Las Vegas this weekend

No order is too tall for Sphere as Illemium finishes his “Odyssey” shows this weekend.

Shaquille O’Neal, in his DJ Diesel superhero persona, is Friday night’s special guest. This is O’Neal’s first appearance at the Bulbous Wonder. The ex-NBA great and part-time Vegas resident has been a featured performer at Rehab at Hard Rock Hotel (R.I.P. to both), XS Nightclub and Encore Beach club at the Wynn, and LIV Las Vegas at Fontainebleau.

The 7-feet-1 inch NBA legend and broadcast star has performed as DJ Diesel on the Strip since 2014, when he appeared at since-closed Chateau Nightclub and Rooftop at Paris Las Vegas.

O’Neal is the second of three guest stars through Illenium’s nine-show “Odyssey” finale. Slander is Thursday and Tape B on Saturday.

The electronic-music firebrand is coming off a wild Ultra Music Festival Miami performance over the weekend. His “Odyssey” album was released in February, ahead of his current Las Vegas residency.

Next at Sphere, Phish brings “Farmhouse,” among dozens of other tracks, to the global fun house April 16-30.
