Bookworms, be prepared to wiggle your way to the finish line. The Central Arkansas Library System and the North Little Rock Public Library System are joining forces to bring back the Rock, Paper, Run 5K, this time in celebration of National Library Week.
Taking place on Sunday, April 6, this family fun run and walk will connect the two library systems to share the love of books and community. The race will kick off at 7:30 a.m. (lineup at 7 a.m.) at the NLRPLS Argenta Library. Participants will run down Broadway, through Riverfront Park, across the Clinton Bridge and back to Argenta Library.
Runners, walkers and spectators are encouraged to join in on the fun and dress up as their favorite book characters. New this year is the addition of team registration. Groups of five or more will receive a $3 discount per person when registering together.
The bookish fun continues the following week on Saturday, April 12, with a National Library Week celebration that will take place at the Laman Plaza from 10 a.m. – noon.
“There are so many incredible resources and activities available through our library systems here in central Arkansas — many of them completely free,” NLRPLS Communications Manager Susie Kirk says. “Any opportunity to get people aware and excited about what we offer is a win. We hope this party shines a light on all the ways our libraries can enrich the community.”
Registration for the Rock, Paper, Run 5K is open now and is free for children ages 3 and younger. For more information and to claim your spot, head to the CALS website or the NLRPLS website.
