Kansas Jayhawks lose to Utah Utes basketball

Gabe Madsen looked on at the roaring crowd with 1:58 remaining in the contest.

Not only was it the Utah senior’s fifth in the game, but it broke Utah’s program record for all-time 3-pointers made once held by Utah guard Nick Jacobson.

Oh, and it proved to be the game-clinching shot in Utah’s biggest win of the season.

Talk about perfect timing.

The Runnin’ Utes defeated the No. 17 Jayhawks 74-67 in their first matchup as Big 12 conference foes. Madsen finished with a team-high 24 points on Saturday night.

Utah’s defense held Kansas to 40% shooting on the night and a 37.5% clip from the 3-point line. The Runnin’ Utes also outrebounded KU 46-36.

With the win, Utah is now 1-9 vs. Quad 1 opponents. It’s also their first win against KU in program history.
