Get yourself a new furry friend at Lake Eola’s Barktoberfest

It’s a lucky 13th year for dog-lovers as Barktoberfest is back at Lake Eola Park with furry friends (and fiends) as far as the eye can see. Orange County Animal Services teams with a plethora of local animal rescue operations to shine the spotlight on plenty of adoptable pets all patiently awaiting their new human companions, as well as vendors and food trucks. Dog owners are encouraged to bring along their own pooches, and if they happen to be in a cute or chilling costume, well, so much the better.

Noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, Lake Eola Park, 185 N. Rosalind Ave., ocnetpets.com, free.

Plus another Oh Que Bueno, a new chef at Redlight Redlight, and another Mexican restaurant comes to College Park

Ballots from registered Democrats slightly ahead of those returned by Republicans after the first days of in-person early voting.

It’s fun, well-run and as easy to find something satisfying as shooting fish in a (cracker) barrel.
