A Knitting Adventure With Tamara Jordan of Starcrossed Knits

When Tamara Jordan moved from the West Coast to Vermont in 2020, she knew she’d need scarves and sweaters to stay warm, but she didn’t buy them — she learned how to knit her own. Motivated by her new hobby, she began to design knitting patterns for romantic summer tops, sweaters based on tarot cards and a cardigan inspired by a famous unicorn tapestry. Jordan sells her patterns online, and Starcrossed Knits has gained more than 100,000 followers on social media.

During this age of fast fashion and throwaway clothing, Jordan spends hours working on her creations. “As a knitting designer, I’m knitting the things that I’m posting,” she said. “Every single inch of this fabric was in my hands, and I spent that time with it because I was inspired by it or loved it or wanted it.”

In the latest episode of “Stuck in Vermont,” Seven Days senior multimedia producer Eva Sollberger met up with Jordan at Shelburne Farms on a sunny fall day for a knitting adventure and the reveal of a new sweater.
