Thornton Academy tops the Varsity Maine volleyball poll for the second week in a row. The Golden Trojans also have one of the state’s toughest remaining schedules. After playing at Portland on Tuesday, the Trojans finish against Gorham — the Rams are three-time defending state champions and are the only team to beat Thornton this season — and at eighth-ranked Scarborough.

No. 5 York also has a difficult closing stretch, including matchups with Scarborough on Tuesday and fourth-ranked Greely on Monday. Greely faces No. 7 Gardiner on Tuesday, then Lewiston/Lisbon (one point shy of this week’s rankings) and then York.

The top six in the Varsity Maine poll is identical to last week. Falmouth, whose only losses this season are to Scarborough, Cheverus/Waynflete and Gorham, joins the rankings at No. 10.
