Golden Coin Bake Shop shuttered due to refrigeration violations

The state Health Department has shuttered Golden Coin Bake Shop in Kalihi due to refrigeration violations.

The Hawaii Department of Health issued a red placard on Wednesday, shutting down the bake shop at 1814 Colburn St. until violations are resolved. The food establishment is operated by GU Industrial & Business Corp.

DOH said the violations include:

>> Refrigeration is not holding foods at or below 41 degrees Fahrenheit as required.

>> Food packages were not in good condition to protect the integrity of the contents from potential contaminants.

>> Food contact equipment was not being cleaned at the required frequency.

>> Hot water was not available for proper ware washing.

DOH is requiring the food establishment to take the following corrective actions before it can reopen:

>> Ensure that all time/temperature control is safe for foods kept at 41 F or below.

>> Remove and replace any compromised packaging. Ensure that all food packages are in good condition.

>> Clean and sanitize all food contact equipment at the required frequency.

>> Restore and maintain an adequate supply of hot water at temperatures greater than 110 F to facilitate proper ware washing.

A follow-up inspection is scheduled on Friday.
