Motorcyclist, 31, injured after crashing into stalled car on H-1 by Waimalu

A 31-year-old man is in critical condition after crashing into a stalled motor vehicle Saturday night on the eastbound H-1 Freeway by the Waimalu off-ramp.

At about 9:39 p.m., a 31-year-old man riding a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on H-1 Freeway and rearended a stalled vehicle — driven by a 39-year-old man with three juvenile female passengers — in the left lane, according to Honolulu police.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was ejected onto the roadway. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services transported the man to an area hospital in critical condition.

The 39-year-old male motorist and two juvenile female passengers sitting in the backseat were not injured, but one juvenile female in the backseat reported minor injuries. She refused treatment at the scene.

Police said it was unknown at this time whether speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
