As the oldest hotel-casino on Fremont Street, Golden Gate feels like an interactive museum. You are walking into history at the 1 Fremont Street property, which opened in 1906 and celebrated its 120th anniversary in January.
Recognizing history, as always, The Mob Museum is partnering with Golden Gate for a limited-time artifact exhibition. Opening Monday morning, the display gives a visual detail into Vegas’s casino history.
The exhibit includes a 1930s-era slot machine, an array of Prohibition-era liquor bottles, and a collection of ashtrays and matchbooks. The items are accompanied by interpretive panels, all installed in front of a historic image of the Fremont Street backdrop.
The artifact exhibition coincides with a new offer as part of the Golden Gate’s “The Night Starts Here” promotion, giving attendees 25 percent off Mob Museum admission and giving players the chance to win free Museum admission from Monday through Sept. 3.
Those who want a part of this package are to visit the Club One loyalty rewards desk between 4 and 7 p.m. with a valid ID. Club One members will receive a wristband granting access to the open bar at Bar Prohibition, along with an envelope with a slot coupon valued from $5 to $1,000 to use from 6-8 p.m. Guests who present the wristband at The Mob Museum box office will also receive 25% off general admission for the duration of the exhibition.

Golden Gate co-owner and CEO Derek Stevens has woven the hotel’s heritage into the future. In January, the hospitality exec hosted a big news event marking Golden Gate’s 120th birthday. In June, he led a parade along Fremont Street Experience to deliver the last Sigma Derby automated horse-racing game from the D to Golden Gate.
