A 22-year-old man was critically injured this morning after his vehicle crashed through two utility poles in Pupukea on Oahu’s North Shore, trapping him beneath the wreckage, according to authorities.
The Honolulu Fire Department received a 911 call at 7:39 a.m. reporting a single-vehicle collision near 59-479 Pupukea Road.
Four units with 14 personnel responded.
The first firefighters arrived at 7:45 a.m. and found the driver partially ejected from the vehicle and pinned beneath it.
The vehicle had crashed through two telephone poles before coming to rest on its side with its roof wrapped around the second pole, firefighters said.
Crews stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver.

The extrication was completed at 8:53 a.m., when the patient was turned over to Emergency Medical Services personnel, HFD said.
EMS said the 22-year-old man suffered multiple traumatic injuries.
Paramedics provided advanced life support before transporting him in critical condition to a trauma center.
No firefighters were injured during the rescue.
The cause of the crash was not immediately available.
