Cheverus scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn a 10-8 win over Thornton Academy in a Class A South baseball season opener Thursday in Saco.
Jackson Holmes was 3 for 5 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Stags. Scottie Sockabasin, Brady Blash and Liam Kalakowsky contributed two hits apiece and Nathan Collins drove in two runs.
Thornton’s Noah Fullerton went 3 for 3, and Brennan Tabor and Dominic Hussey each had two RBI. The Trojans erased an early 5-0 deficit with four runs in the fourth and four in the sixth.
