Radar shows heavy rain over parts of Central and Windward Oahu this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has canceled the flood advisory for Oahu.

A flood advisory has been issued for a large swath of Oahu this afternoon as heavy rain falls from Mililani to Punaluu, the National Weather Service said.
“At 3:43 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain over Central Oahu and parts of Windward Oahu,” according to the flood advisory, which is in effect until 6 p.m. “The heaviest rain was falling near Mililani where 2 inches of rain has fallen. Rain rates are starting to decrease but the band of heavy rain remains nearly stationary stretching from Mililani to Punaluu with rates of up to 1.5 inches per hour. Additional heavy showers are starting to develop near the Koolau mountain range.”
NWS forecasters said some locations that may experience flooding include Waipio, Wahiawa, Mililani, Wheeler Field, Schofield Barracks, Pearl City, Waikane, Waikele, Waiahole, Kunia, Punaluu, Waipahu, Aiea, Hauula, Kaaawa, Kahaluu, Halawa, Laie, Salt Lake and Waialua. Possible impacts include minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams.

NWS’ statewide forecast says calls for “locally heavy showers over parts of windward Kauai and Central Oahu as a result of the day-time sea breeze convergence and lingering moisture over the western half of the state.” Showers should decrease across the state with land breezes developing over many areas tonight, forecasters said.
For Wednesday and Thursday, tradewinds will return from east to west across the state, they said. Most of the state will see cloudy skies but little rain, with mainly some isolated to scattered showers. However, Kauai could see afternoon showers develop Wednesday afternoon over interior areas, followed by drier conditions, according to the forecast.
