The World’s Greatest Party Band is the focus of a themed pop-up lounge on the Strip.
Unrelated, a venerable Southern-rock outfit is playing a busy off-Strip theater.
The B-52s are all-in at The Venetian Theatre on April 22, 24 and 25. The band is also planning a pop-up lounge, dubbed Love Shack, at the adjacent Rosina Lounge during the run. A custom (or, if you will, curated) soundtrack and cocktail menu is offered.
Drinks cost $20 each. “Rock Lobster” is a blend of gin, Aperol, Prosecco and grapefruit soda “Deadbeat Club” is a mix of Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime, Hellfire bitters and a Tajín finish. “Private Idaho” combines cognac with fresh espresso, coffee liqueur, Licor 43 and chocolate bitters. Those looking for zero-proof/mocktail options are on their own.
The B-52s debuted their Strip residency in May 2023, with “Rock Lobster,” “Private Idaho,” “Roam,” and “Love Shack” in the set list. They have performed 25 shows total at The Venetian.
Led by Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, the shows have drawn a full house of devotees, some holding signs endorsing the band from Athens, Georgia to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (a futile campaign, thus far). Ticket information at Ticketmaster.com.
Also announced Monday morning by concert promoter Live Nation Las Vegas, Lynyrd Skynyrd returns to Pearl at the Palms on Oct. 3. The band, inducted into the Rock Hall 20 years ago, most recently played the Pearl in August.
“Sweet Home Alabama,” “Simple Man” and “Gimme Three Steps” and the inevitable concert anthem “Free Bird” remain highlights of the set list. Tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Friday Pacific time AXS.com.
