Barry Manilow calls off nine arena concerts

Barry Manilow is not yet ready to perform a full concert.

In a persistent issue this year, the 82-year-old superstar has announced he is postponing nine tour dates running Monday through April 29.

“Doctor’s orders,” was the message on Manilow’s official fan page. “We know this is not the news you were expecting, especially with the shows so close, and we truly appreciate your understanding.”

Manilow is still scheduled to return to International Theater at Westgate on May 7-9, and May 14-16. The “Mandy” legend has been forced from the stage since undergoing surgery to have a spot removed from his left lung in late December.

The longtime Las Vegas headliner has reportedly been hard at work on a treadmill, attempting to sing a full show’s worth of songs. He is not quite able to rehearse a complete performance.

Manilow was to return to performance Monday at USB Arena in New York, followed by Mohegan Sun Arena on April 16 and Santander Arena on April 17, both in Pennsylvania.
