Super Summer Theatre will present “1776,” the musical ode to the founding of our country, on the Fourth of July.
One of four productions this summer, the Broadway hit is a nod to America’s 250th birthday — or the Semiquincentennial, for you word snobs out there.
The season kicks off with “Disney’s Newsies,” based on the movie about the newsboys strike of 1899 during which young newspaper sellers stood up for their rights. It will be performed at 8:05 p.m. on May 29-30 and June 3-6 and 10-13.
The days leading to the signing of the Declaration of Independence are portrayed, as are John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, in “1776.” It’s scheduled for 8:05 p.m. on July 1-4, 8-11 and 15-18.
Three stagehands step into the spotlight when a World War II-era USO show goes off-script in “The Andrews Brothers.” It’s running at 8:05 p.m. on Aug. 5-8, 12-15 and 19–22.
The story of 7,000 travelers whose planes were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, on Sept. 11, 2001, comes to life in the musical “Come From Away.” It will round out the season with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 4-5, 9-12 and 16-19.
All shows will be performed at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.
Tickets start at $25.
