The last freestanding Claim Jumper in Nevada has shuttered.
According to a sign posted on the door of the restaurant near the 215 Beltway and Green Valley Parkway in Henderson, it has permanently closed. As of Thursday, lettering had been removed from restaurant signage.
“We regret to inform you that this location has permanently closed,” the sign reads. “We are sad to close this location and thank the countless staff and guests who have made our restaurant feel like home throughout the years. We hope to see you at one of our other location(s).”
The company, known for its steaks and other American fare, was started in 1977 by Los Alamitos, California, restaurateur Craig Nickoloff. It was modeled on the 1849 Gold Rush.
The closures in Las Vegas were a long time coming. The company first filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and was acquired by Landry’s, Inc. The company filed for bankruptcy again in 2022. The other two freestanding locations in Las Vegas, one adjacent to Boca Park in west Las Vegas and one in Town Square, have long been closed.
The nearest freestanding Claim Jumper is in San Bernardino, California, franchised by Kelly Restaurant Group. The company has three more in California and one location in Oregon. As of publication, the company had not responded to a request for comment.
Las Vegans can still get a Claim Jumper fix at CJ, which remains owned and operated by Landry’s, inside the Golden Nugget. According to a company spokesperson, there are no plans to close that outlet.
