Point Pleasant Boro celebrates second 1,000 point scorer in two days, then wins again

Point Pleasant Boro has had plenty to celebrate over the past 48 hours.

For the second time in two days, Point Pleasant Boro had a player score his 1,000th career point, then went on to earn another victory.

On Thursday, it was Hunter Hynes who reached the milestone as part of a 15-point effort in Point Pleasant Boro’s 65-36 victory over New Egypt in Point Pleasant.

Hynes is the first player in program history score 1,000 points before the end of his junior season. He also added five rebounds in the win.

Just one day earlier, senior Jovin Steinmetz scored his 1,000th career point in a 53-52 win over Johnson on Wednesday. Steinmetz capped off the special night with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to finish with 24 points.

Against New Egypt, Steinmetz followed it up with 12 points and eight rebounds for Point Pleasant Boro (17-9), which opened up a 16-7 first quarter lead and never looked back. Dean Cardia had 12 points with four assists and Landon Hoyle added nine points and six rebounds.

New Egypt falls to 11-14 on the season.
