Kansas City Symphony Presents: Pines of Rome and Bruch’s Second Violin Concerto | Jan 17, 2026

Join the Kansas City Symphony on an imaginative voyage through faraway lands in this concert. Canadian composer Samy Moussa conjures mythical visions in Elysium, a piece depicting the Greek paradise for demigods and heroes. And Italian composer Ottorino Respighi transports us to Rome with two fan-favorite pieces. Fountains of Rome colorfully depicts four of the city’s fountains at different times of day, while Pines of Rome ends with an earth-shattering finale as the triumphant Roman army marches along the Appian Way. Plus, our concertmaster Jun Iwasaki takes a solo turn in Max Bruch’s expressive Second Violin Concerto.
