A North Seattle man defended himself and his teenage daughter with a frying pan during a home invasion early Friday morning, police say.
Someone broke into their home on the 6100 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast around 2:40 a.m. and armed himself with a kitchen knife, Seattle police said. That’s when the 61-year-old resident grabbed the frying pan.
The alleged intruder fought with the homeowner, chased him outside and stabbed him in the leg, police said in an online blotter post. The two fought in the front yard, and the intruder also received serious stab wounds.
The man’s 15-year-old daughter texted 911; she wasn’t injured. Police and Seattle Fire Department crews treated her father’s stab wounds when they arrived and took him to a hospital in stable condition.
First responders also treated the alleged intruder at the scene and took him to the hospital in serious condition with life-threatening injuries. He was in critical condition Friday morning at Harborview Medical center and under armed police guard, police said.
The alleged intruder is being held on suspicion of residential burglary and felony assault, police said.
