No anime convention is complete without cosplay, and Kami-Con is no exception! Throughout the three-day Kami-Con weekend, you’ll spot thousands of cosplayers in expertly crafted Star Wars outfits, larger-than-life Steampunk mech suits or deep-cut anime references.

Whether you’re showing off your own handmade costume or just there to look, Kami-Con is a welcoming place to connect with fellow fans of your favorite anime, video games, movies and comics.

P.S. Don’t forget you can win fame, glory, cash prizes and trophies at Kami-Con’s Craftsmanship Cosplay Contest!

Located inside the East Exhibition Hall at the BJCC, Kami-Con’s vendor room is back and bigger than ever. With more activities, vendors and makers’ space than ever before, the vendor room is packed with everything from anime merch and collectibles to handmade art, prints, plushies, cosplay accessories and more—making it the perfect place to hunt for that unique figurine you’ve been looking for while supporting independent artists.

Pro tip: Leave a little extra room in your bag—you’re gonna need it!

5. Determine the outcome of Kami-Con’s ongoing story

Shio-chan and Kosho-chan, the heroes of the Kami-Con storyline. (Kami-Con)

Did you know that Kami-Con was founded by a handful of passionate students at UAB in 2009? Since the inaugural Kami-Con seventeen years ago, the organizers behind the event have maintained an ongoing, interactive comic storyline that expands every Season. During the convention, attendees have multiple opportunities to interact with the story—and affect the outcome!

Here’s a quick TL;DR: The Kami-Con storyline follows Shio and Kosho (and their magical animal mascot, Shoyu), two sisters who run Kami-Con. Last Season, a cast of anime carnival performers—including Buggy the Clown (One Piece), Blair (Soul Eater), Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad Isekai), Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan) and Luffy (One Piece)—took control of Kami-Con by force: setting the stage for Season 17: Battle Royale.
