Mary J. Blige to headline Las Vegas Strip for 10 shows

We know the 411 on the Strip this spring and summer.

Mary J. Blige is headlining a 10-show series, titled “My Life, My Story” at Dolby Live at Park MGM, split between May 1-9 and July 10-18. Blige announced the residency on Monday’s “Today” show on NBC. The show is presented by promoter Live Nation Las Vegas.

This is the first Las Vegas residency for Blige, who turned 55 on Sunday. “It’s nice. Vegas is the big time,” Blige said on the morning show. The headliner said the show will be more theatrical than a normal tour stop (a required element of Vegas extended engagement) and will be “a story, so there is going to be actors and actresses, (but) the music tells the story.”

Blige’s most recent Vegas performance was at T-Mobile Arena with Ne-Yo and Mario this past February.

Blige released “What’s the 411?,” her debut album, in 1992. Dubbed “The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” Blige has charted with “Real Love,” “Family Affair,” “Be Without You” and “Not Gon’ Cry.”
