Kristóf Papp scored his second goal of the night 6:05 into overtime Saturday as the Norfolk Admirals earned their fourth consecutive victory, topping the Adirondack Thunder 4-3 before 5,205 in Glens Falls, New York.
The Admirals (11-19-2-0) swept a two-game series at Harding Mazzotti Arena and will return home for a Friday-Saturday set at Scope against the North Division-leading Wheeling Nailers (23-7-1-0) to start a long homestand.
Goalie Isaac Poulter gained his second victory in two nights, making 29 saves. Adirondack’s Tyler Brennan made 28 saves but took the defeat.
The Admirals needed to come from behind twice. Brady Fleurent scored 15:46 to even the game at 1, and Papp’s goal 9:12 into the third period forced a tie at 2.
Grant Hebert put the Admirals ahead 12:49 into the third period, but Tag Bertuzzi’s power-play goal at 18:16 for the Thunder (17-9-4-1) forced overtime.
Papp got assists from Brehdan Engum and Chase Yoder on the decisive goal. Yoder, who netted four goals Friday, had two assists Saturday.
Forward Jacob Julien, 21, reassigned to the Admirals by the American Hockey League’s Manitoba Moose, made his pro debut by playing in both games against Adirondack. He didn’t register a point.
Julien was a fifth-round pick of Norfolk’s NHL parent club, the Winnipeg Jets, in 2023.
