Campbell women rally past Norfolk State despite Jasha Clinton’s big game

Campbell’s women’s basketball team rallied past Norfolk State 68-63 Monday night in Buies Creek, North Carolina, despite a scintillating 28 points from Jasha Clinton.

Clinton shot 11 of 19 from the floor to set her career high and added four assists, three rebounds and a team-high five steals. Da’Brya Clark added 15 points.

Jasmine Nivar scored 20 points for the Camels (7-5), who trailed 50-41 after three quarters. They outscored Campbell 17-8 to pull even at 58.

A Clinton 3-pointer lifted NSU to a 63-61 lead with 2:05 on the clock, but the Spartans never scored again as Campbell netted seven free throws to complete a 27-13 scoring advantage in the quarter.

Ciara Alexander had 13 points and Jasmine Felton 12 for Campbell.

More women

Radford 100, Concord 48: Aniah Jenkins posted her first college double-double, 14 points and 13 rebounds (10 offensive), as the Highlanders (7-6) beat Division II Concord (6-4) at Dedmon Center. They outscored the Mountain Lions 56-14 in the second half.

Joi Williams scored 16 points for Radford.

Men

VCU 84, Niagara 58: Former Duke guard Greg Paulus’ underdog Purple Eagles (2-9) hung with the Rams for a 37-34 first half at Siegel Center, but VCU (7-4) pulled away.

Lazar Djokovic’s 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks led the Rams. Michael Belle scored 15 points and Terrence Hill Jr. 14.

Landon Williams had 17 points and four steals for Niagara in its eighth straight loss.
