Grand jury indicts man, 36, in sushi restaurant armed robbery

An Oahu grand jury indicted today a 36-year-old man in the Thanksgiving Day armed robbery at a sushi restaurant on Ala Moana Boulevard.

Wilsand Sardinha was indicted on two counts of first-degree robbery, first-degree terroristic threatening and kidnapping.

Sardinha, allegedly armed with a simulated firearm, entered Kan Sushi at 1910 Ala Moana Blvd., just as it was closing, and pointed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from two employees, restraining one of them, and threatening a third.

If convicted of a felony offense, Sardinha could be subject to extended sentencing as a persistent and multiple felony offender.

If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole for the robbery and kidnapping charges, both Class A felonies, and 10 years for the terroristic threatening charge, a Class C felony.

Sardinha is being held without bail at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.
