Momentum Church: 2200 N. Main St. — Momentum Church’s Sunday service will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16. The Sunday gathering features fellowship, worship, prayer and teaching. Children’s ministry occurs during service for ages 6 weeks through 5th grade.
St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church: 101 W. Burrell Drive — St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church is calling volunteers to assist in packing 300 boxes for children in need this Christmas. The “Box of Joy” event will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Parish Hall. The initiative is taking donations through Nov. 23. The operation seeks to provide gifts to underprivileged children all over the globe.

Center for Visual and Performing Arts: 1040 Ridge Road — St. Thomas More will celebrate its 80th Anniversary with a special Brunch Celebration from 1-4 p.m. on Nov. 16. St. John the Evangelist: 11301 W. 93rd Ave. — Boomers and beyond are welcome to attend a “Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad” potluck lunch and presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the church’s Trinity Hall. Larry McClennan, an emeritus professor at Governors State University, will present his research on the Underground Railroad in the Chicago area, followed by a performance of gospel spirituals by Lana Lewis.
