One teenager was killed and another injured after reports of gunfire and stabbings during a large incident involving over 100 people in Trenton on Friday night, officials with the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Trenton police responded to the first block of East Hanover Street on Friday at 10:01 p.m. for several reports of a large group of juveniles involved in an altercation, officials said.
Police found Gussiah McEachern, 17, of Trenton, wounded at the scene and transported him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was later declared dead, officials said.
Officials did not say how McEachern was wounded and an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death, authorities said.
Detectives at the hospital learned that a second victim, a 15-year-old boy from Trenton, was being treated for non-life threatening cuts and stab wounds to his arms and legs, officials said.
Recordings of the incident showed more than 100 people and vehicles in the area, creating gridlock on East Hanover Street, authorities said.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detective James Rickey with the Mercer County Homicide Task Force at (609) 989-6406.
