Three clandestine Kalihi gambling dens were shuttered by Honolulu police officers who seized an assault rifle, ghost guns, drugs and $24,000 in cash during two days of operations.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, on Oct. 20, Narcotics Vice Division officers, assisted by the District 4 and District 5 Crime Reduction Units and the Specialized Services Division, executed a search warrant at an illegal gambling room on Puuhale Road in Kalihi.
“During the search, officers recovered a stolen firearm, 12 gambling machines, illicit drugs, and over $6,000 in cash,” according to HPD.
At a different location on the same day, HPD officers from the same divisions shutdown and searched an illegal gambling room on Makuahine Street in Kalihi. During that operation, police recovered two loaded ghost guns, 26 gambling machines, illicit drugs, more than $14,000 in cash, and arrested one man wanted for a criminal contempt of court warrant.
On Oct. 22, officers from the Narcotics Vice Division, District 5 Crime Reduction Unit and the Specialized Services Division, searched an illegal gambling room on Kahaha Street in Kalihi.
Officers recovered 12 gambling machines, illicit drugs, and over $4,000 in cash, according to police.
