Trump is ramping up his attempt to desensitize us to atrocities. The aim is clear.

(Doug Mills | The New York Times) Part of the crowd of hundreds of U.S. generals and admirals from around the globe gather at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Va., on Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, 2025, for a highly unusual meeting with President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

He talks like a drunk at the end of the bar, but he knows exactly what he’s doing. First, he desensitized us to nonstop blatant lies, all kinds of crude behavior and language. Then, to brutally racist and sexist remarks. Now he’s moved into actions.

Under the guise of “deporting criminals,” he disappears folks showing up for their legally required immigration hearings or just walking down the street speaking Spanish. He takes away funding from businesses and universities over DEI policies, calling them “woke” – whatever that means. He whitewashes this nation’s original sin of slavery — removing exhibits from the Smithsonian that don’t represent a white supremacist version of America.

Now he wants to desensitize us to having the military police our cities.

Recently, he and the absurd Fox News host who pretends he is the “Secretary of War” told our military generals if they don’t want a “male” military, a military comfortable making “war” on the American population, they should resign. Only bootlickers (like the Republicans in Congress, like his entire Cabinet) should remain.

Dictators need the military on their side when they refuse to leave office. Donald has learned much from Jan. 6. No one with scruples needs to serve him.

Folks get upset when Donald’s actions are compared to Hitler’s Germany. But historically, what else is the “them against us” rhetoric and actions, the cult following, the distraction from our tanking economy? And now, the unapologetic rant about using the military against the country’s own citizens?

Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. You have an offramp at the 2026 midterms, America. Take it, or we are lost.
