KING AND QUEEN — King and Queen County Public Schools closed its high school and an elementary school on Monday after receiving an anonymous bomb threat.
The division closed Central High School and King and Queen Elementary School before students arrived after receiving an anonymous call at 12:13 a.m. The call stated that a bomb was set to go off at 10 a.m. at Central High School, Superintendent Carol Carter said in a message.
The schools were closed “out of an abundance of caution” for staff and students, Carter said.
County deputies and state police officers swept both campuses with K-9 units and found no evidence of a credible threat, Carter said.
Some parents reported receiving a call at about 7:15 a.m. informing them the schools were closed. However, others said in a Facebook group that their children were sent home after boarding school buses.
No further information was available Monday night. Carter said both schools plan to reopen Tuesday.
