Millions of readers rely on The Oregonian/OregonLive as their trusted source for local news in the Pacific Northwest.
Google has introduced “Preferred Sources,” a new feature that makes it easier to find trusted OregonLive.com content when looking for stories that matter most to our region.
Preferred Sources allows people looking for information on the web to designate which websites they want to see first in Google search results.
When you select OregonLive as a Preferred Source, you’ll see more OregonLive articles displayed in Google’s Top Stories feature or in the “From your sources” section on the results page.
You’ll continue to see content from other websites, but users will find more stories from their favorite websites. You are able to manage and adjust your selections at any time.
Users can select as many preferred sources as they like, including The Oregonian’s “good news” website HereisOregon.com, as an example.
There’s two easy ways to designate OregonLive.com as your preferred source.
Option 1:
Just click here and check the box next to OregonLive like the visual below.
Option 2:
You can also set up preferred sources by going to Google.com, searching for any keyword, then clicking on the icon to the right of the “Top Stories” header.

You then type OregonLive in the “search by name or website” filter in the pop-up window.

Once you refresh your search results, or visit Google again, you’ll see more options from OregonLive.com and any other sites you have chosen as preferred sources.
