Gustavo Rosen scored a goal as Montclair Kimberley, No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, shutout Newark Academy 3-0 in its season opener in Montclair.
Jan Hejna and Joseph Morante combined to stop three shots on goal to help Montclair Kimberley (1-0) record its first shutout of the season.
All three goals for Montclair Kimberley were scored in the second half. Montclair Kimberley also tallied 16 shots on goal in the game.
CJ Dike and Adrian Canizares each had a goal while Matias Liermann picked up a pair of assists. Nick Carrascora had one assist.
Montclair Kimberley has won three of its last four season openers, going 3-0-1 since the 2021 season.
Newark Academy falls to 0-1 to start its season.
