Thursday, July 24

60th Season Preview at the ASO Stella Boyle Smith Music Center // The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is ramping up for a milestone season this fall. To get guests excited, the public is invited to hear from music director Geoffrey Robson with insights on the season as well as performances by students of the ASO Youth Ensembles. Fat Cow 5K at the St. Joseph Center of Arkansas // Get a mooove on, cowpoke. This second annual fun run gives participants a prime view of the farm with a route that loops through the gardens, fields and flowers, all to raise funds for the historic grounds. There’s even a 100-meter dash for the kids, plus post-run activities like goat yoga. It all starts at 7:15 a.m. Learn more here.

Friends of Fourche Creek Wetlands Cleanup // Living in The Natural State means not having to leave the capital city when you want to go on a float trip. Keep Little Rock Beautiful and Friends of Fourche Creek are joining forces to help take care of the urban wetlands with a little teamwork and elbow grease. Rock Town’s throwback movie series welcomes you to the barrel house for a free screening and popcorn, plus drink specials. Opening Weekend at Local Theaters // The stages are hopping this weekend and we have zero complaints. There’s the award-winning “9 to 5: The Musical” at Argenta Contemporary Theatre, the iconic “Lord of the Flies” at The Weekend Theater and summer arts education productions of “Descendants: The Musical” and “Dreamland” at Wildwood Park for the Arts. Meanwhile, the Arkansas Repertory Theatre closes out its sunny run of “Hair” this weekend.

Arkansas Travelers vs. Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Dickey-Stephens Park // Play ball, y’all. The Travs take on the NWA team in this week’s series, which also features different specials each night like fireworks and Christmas in July. Learn more here.
