Denver police search for leads in assault turned homicide

A woman who was assaulted in October in downtown Denver died from her injuries last week, changing the case from an assault to a homicide investigation, according to the police department.

Scherrie Henderson, 44, was attacked near the intersection of 22nd and Curtis streets at about 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2024, according to the Denver Police Department.

The intersection is in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, several blocks southeast of Coors Field.

Paramedics took Henderson to the hospital, where she died from her injuries nine months later on July 8, police said.
