Garcia, whose nickname is “The Password”, has been recognized among the game’s top young prospects.
Red Sox prospect Jhostynxon Garcia will represent the club at the 2025 MLB All-Star Futures game, the league announced Monday.
The 23-year-old outfielder is hitting .275 with 12 home runs and 40 RBI this season. The bulk of that production came after he was called up to Class AAA Worcester.
Garcia, the No. 5 prospect in the Red Sox farm system according to MLB.com, is was the only Red Sox prospect invited to the game. Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer, the club’s top two prospects, were recently called up to Boston. They both played in the Futures Game last season.
Since 1999, the MLB All-Star Futures Game has showcased some of Major League Baseball’s top prospects. Past MVPs include Alfonzo Soriano, Grady Sizemore, and Kyle Schwarber.
Former Red Sox prospect Braden Montgomery is also on the roster. Padres infielder Leo De Vries (No. 3 overall) and Phillies pitcher Andrew Painter (No. 5 overall) are the highest ranked prospects that were announced for the game.
The game is scheduled for July 12th at 4 p.m. at Atlanta’s Truist Park.
The selection is the latest recognition for Garcia, who recently broke into the top-50 of Keith Law’s prospect rankings and the top-25 of Baseball America’s rankings.
His nickname, “The Password,” was recently used as a clue on Jeopardy!.
The WooSox will open up a three-game homestand against Syracuse on Tuuesday evening.
